Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to Year 5 and the Summer Term!

Mr Johnson and Mr Smith are our class teachers and Mrs Sherrington and Mrs Wallwork also work with us during the week. On Thursdays, Mrs Romer and Miss Cheatham teach for part of the day.  Other adults who work in the Year 5 team are Mrs Facer and Mrs Aitken.

Important Information

Our library day is Thursday so don’t forget your library book!

This half term we will have PE on a Tuesday and Wednesday, but try to have your kit in school every day just in case.

Home Learning is set on a Wednesday and is due on the following Monday.  The children will be given a slip outlining the task. Advice, guidance and helpful links will be given on the Home-Learning slip but if you require additional information please contact Mr Johnson or Mr Smith.

The children should also read their Reading, Library and Guided Reading books.

Summer Term Theme – ‘A Different World’

Our theme for the Summer Term is entitled ‘A Different World’. We will be using the Inspirational Text ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan throughout this time as a way of engaging with our school curriculum. The book contains no text but instead tells the story of a migrant who flees in search of a better life for his family through a series of beautiful illustrations that depict his struggle and adventure.

Look out for updates on our class page as well as on our Twitter feed to follow some of our learning throughout this term.
