This Year we will visit the school library on a Tuesday morning – please remember to have your library book on this day. School reading books will be changed weekly during Guided Reading sessions.

We are timetabled to have PE every Monday and Friday, but please have both your indoor and outdoor PE kit in school every day, as plans may change!

Home is sent home on a Wednesday, due for the following Monday.
Spellings are sent home at the start of the term and will be tested in groups of 5 each Wednesday.

Summer Term – A Different World

Our theme this term is ‘A Different World’ and our learning will be influenced by our new inspirational text ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Mauro Evangelista, which is a shortened picture book based on the traditional Lewis Carroll story. The different world aspect of our theme links to both ‘Wonderland’, which will inspire much of our descriptive writing in English, but also our history learning which is all about the Victorian Era. We will be reading the ‘Travels of a Young Victorian’ series as our class novel which will help us understand what life was like for children in Victorian times. Our Science topic is ‘Plants’ which links on from our topic last term. We will consider what plants need to grow and how they grow by conducting experiments to test different variables. In Maths, we will learn how to tell the time through practical activities and problem solving, focusing on o’clock, half past, quarter past and to, and five minute intervals. We will also continue to revisit strategies for addition and subtraction and practise these through arithmetic and problem solving questions.

There will be lots of exciting learning going on in Year 2 this term, please follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with our adventures.
